I didn't know Grady made a inboard outboard. Are they very common?

Mine started out as an I/O, but no, not very common. Back in the day, it was an easy way to get big power. I think they even made an inboard at one time.

During that era I/Os were not uncommon in my area. I have an '83 Kingfish 254 (in '83 that's a Sailfish with single or twin I/O) mine had twin 170 HP Mercruisers. I still have it - repowered in '06 with a single Mercruiser 496, great boat and motor combination.

I have an 84 overnighter with an 02 Volvo Penta.
I’d prefer an outboard but took a chance that I can keep it running a while and enjoy and then upgrade to something else eventually

pighunter - I saw that posting too. Where in CA are you?
