Kicker location question

I Hava a 1988 Tournament 19 outboard and I am getting ready to install a Yamaha 8hp 4 stroke kicker on a bracket mount.
Most of the kickers I've seen are installed on the passenger side of the boat. Mine has a swim platform there. I'd rather not move it and have the holes in my transom.
Is it a balance issue for the boat to mount it on that side? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks...

Timmyboy, I have a 208 with the kicker mounted on the starboard side with a swim platform on the port. As long as the batteries are positioned on the port side you should have good balance as I do
