I have a 1991 Grady Seafarer 22 with a single 2004 200 yamaha hpdi and I want to install a 9.9 HT Yamaha kicker as a back up in case my single engine fails on me. I have my ladder on the port side so the ideal place would be at starboard. That side has the battery selector along with the shurflo pump screwed to the stern. Any suggestions on the install and if anyone had any issues installing a kicker on that side. Thank you

I just ordered a kicker motor bracket to mount a Yamaha T8 on my 228's swim platform. My ladder is mounted on the port side also so I will be mounting kicker on starboard side. The main reason for mounting kicker on port side is to balance weight. (Boat driver and kicker on same side)
I was going to move ladder on starboard side but decided to see how it works with kicker on the same side as driver.

Have the same set up on my '87.

Boat will list as you suspect. I did fix this by adding 4 bags of sand up in the cubby port side, then covered it with a throw blanket.

The upside was the hull rides much better with no list.

Thank you, I have a panther bracket that has different settings. I regret buying the kicker without power trim, if it had power trim I would put a solid bracket. My concern now is removing items that are bolted on the inside of the transom that might be in the way of the bolts. Hopefully none. Thank You!!

I am hoping the trim tabs will take care of the ride. I like your set up and your boat looks great

Hope so too, I don't have em, and am a lake fisherman dictated by geographical positioning ;).

If I was on the coast, they would be installed.

Let us know how it works out!

I put a Pooderbuilt swim step motor mount on my 228. I moved the ladder to the starboard side and put the kicker mount on the port side. I am very happy I did, super easy and no listing.

Will do, I just changed the bilge pump, shurflo washdown/livewell pump and hopefully have the freshwater pump fixed. The boat has been sitting for 2 years, got the engine running, and now going through the inside. I will need to change a rocker switch , any suggestions on which brand and model. I have attached a pic, the backside has a small metal strip that other switches dont have . thanksswitch.jpg

Cool!

I don't have that style rocker, hopefully another member can chime in to advise.
