2017 330 bow thruster shear pin replacement 185TT
Boats out of water, bottom attachments (Allen bolts) removed but unit will not separate completely.
Any ideas???

Are you sure you have all the bolts out - on my Marlin I recall one of them being pretty well hidden on the back side. Once I removed the allen bolts it separated without any force. All of this is above the water line so I don't recall any sealant or other materials making anything stick. In my case, I got to the shear pin easily, but it wasn't broken - - the gearbox was so I ultimately had to pull the boat and have the gearbox swapped out for a new one. For the bolts, I don't have it with me now, but I recall the manual giving me the count and that's how I knew one was still in place.

Well, I'm totally confused...my Lewmar part number 591838 12v 3kw can't be found anywhere..I find 24v 4kw looks same which is completely different than any I see or any manual. Yes I've removed all bolts, 4 smaller Allen's between 4 larger allens??? All holding the same lower housing....I stumbled across same parts on ebay but different numbers f different voltage different kw's....ugh going to call Lewmar in am...even my tech is lost

I have the manual in electronic format for the following if you want to PM me your email address. The file is too big to attach to this thread. It covers the 3KW model. The part numbers are different for the various KW ratings, but the manual covers the full range of them. Lewmar was very helpful when I had my issues and it took some research on their part to get the right part number for the parts i needed as they are tied to the KW rating and not just the 185TT model number. My Marlin is a 2021, so you may have an earlier generation of the 185TT.

Thank You so much....pulling my hair out here...

I just emailed you the PDF - - hope it helps....

Thank You, the pdf's I've seen do not have the gen2 illustration as this, however number 36 "the pin" isn't on this one either nor are there instructions guiding how where....I've been a technical writer for the aircraft industry years back; always fool proofed detailed instructions as there is no room for error in the sky. I do appreciate your time.Screenshot_20250223_233725_Yahoo Mail.jpg

The sheer pin part number is 559017 and attached is what it looks like after you remove the 4 bolts and lift the assembly off. Part of the confusion maybe that Grady uses a slightly different part number than the standard but Lewmar bases everythiing off the model (185TT) and the KW (3.0). Here's the comment from Lewmar in one of my emails: The only difference between a standard Lewmar TT thruster and a Grady White version of a TT thruster is that Grady White will use deutsch connectors instead of molex connectors. Good luck - - dealing with the bow thruster was one of the more confusing repairs that I had to do - - seems simple once you navigate the part number issues.
