This is for my Vetus thruster. First of all the shear pin is on the shaft behind the propeller. Talk the nut off the propeller to access it.

If you are trying to take the motor off there is a locking collar between the motor and the lower unit/transmission. Unlock it. Pop the motor off.

The lower unit/transmission attaches to the tube with a bracket with a few screws. Take these out if you to get the transmission.

Your unit may be different. Check your manuals!

UPDATE: got it out! 3 allen head bolts hold the cover (removal not required), 4 larger allen hold the motor unit. Found shear pin intact. Went to remove lower prop assy. and found the 2 screws (red in illustration) backed out but buried in bottom paint virtually invisible. Lesson learned, now I know the system. Lewmar tech support was very responsive.
Thank everyone for your support.

Glad to see you got to the pin. In my case, the pin was also intact and the gearbox was bad. I ultimately replaced everything below the water line. The gearbox was full of water and no oil. Never figured out why, but lewmar replaced the gear box (part only) under warranty as I was still in the warranty window. Good luck getting yours going.
