live well use

neighbor just purchased a 2005 fisherman 222....how do we get water into the live wells?? the front one has never been used and has a plug in the water line at the bottom of the tank and i assume it came from the factory that way..it is a threaded fitting as well, whats that for???.will the plug pop out when water pressure is applied?? some of the on/off switches and relays need replaceing as well, where can we find those? thank you very much chris

Assuming the live functions like mine here are some tips. That plug is for the drain and a stand pipe should screw into it. This pipe elevates the drain height and water will then fill the chamber. To fill the well you will need to find the seacock valve and open it. Then turn on the switch. I am not familiar with the 222 on where the seacock is located, so I can't help u there.

Pull the stopper out of the bottm. You may have a stand pipe clipped into the bottom of your baitwell lid. Screw that in. Should be a switch on your dash to fire the pump up. But, you still need to find that seacock and open it to get water to your livewell pump. Water will enter your bait well and keep filling. It will fill as long as you have your switch on. Excess water and bait excrement will drain out of the top of the standoff. so,, keep your bait well running the entire time. The bait need the current to swim against anyway.

Not sure how the 2005 Fisherman is set up and you mentioned live wells "plural". My 2006 Fisherman has one live well; behind the helm seat. Hatches up front with rubber stoppers are fish boxes with drains. For the live well to operate, you must open the seacock that is accessible through the deck plate directly in front of the motor splashguard. My live well doesn't use a drain tube; it has an overflow built into the live well that pushes the waste water out the top of the live well. To operate the well, open the seacock, put the black stopper in the BOTTOM drain then turn on the switch on the dash. The live well will start filling, the water will move in a circular motion and when it fills, the overflow/waste will go out through the top drain. I always operate mine with the stopper in, that way if you shut off the pump for any reason, the well won't drain when you are stopped.

When you are finished for the day, shut off the pump, pull the black stopper and let it drain then close the seacock. Make sure you net all the bait out before you pull the plug, or any small bait can get sucked into the bottom drain. I usually rinse mine a few times with fresh water a couple of times or it will start to stink!

thank you guys for all the info...i guess i need to clarify a couple things....we do have 2 wells, one in front of center console (the larger of the 2) and one behind helm seat. the plug i`m talkin bout is not the one for the drain in center where the overflow stick is, it`s in the rt bottom corner of front well, inside a threaded fitting...it`s white, and soft...almost looks like a marshmello for a visiual...we just assumed it might have come from factory with it there as maybe protection from any trash gettin in the line...is that where the water`s gonna come in the tank and will the pressure of the water push the plug out....previous owner did not leave instructions for use, said he only used the back one and we have no instruct manual.....any body know what that threaded fitting is for? any ideas where to look for replacement on/off switchs and relays that are below steering colume.... thanks again and good fishin chris
