Livewell Drain Plug Replacement

Hi all,

I am the proud owner of a 2005 model 208 Adventure here in Sydney, Australia, had it for 5 years now and absolutely love it

The brand has only recently started being distributed here in Australia so information is not easy to get especially on small parts like this

Can any of you good folks here tell me if there are replacement livewell drain plugs available to buy, the boat never had them when i got it so i have made do with cork types till now but they leak
The drain is tapered white plastic like a countersunk screw (just over 1" down to just under 1") and has a double' key wa'y which makes me think there is, or was a special plug to suit

Its the overflow not the plug but you'll probably run across the plug if you look for THmarine-livewell-plug on eBay or various marine parts websites.

Possibly another avenue... look for an expanding rubber plug or a rubber expansion plug at a local marine or plumbing store.

Hi,
There are (2) types of plugs and (1) live well tube.

The plugs that go in the bait prep station (if so equipped) and the fishboxes are rather small hard rubber that can be found at any hardware store nothing special.
The plug for the live well is a larger one (1 1/2") that is hollow and more pliable than the small hard rubber ones. It also has a loop top so you can pull it out easy. This screws into the bottom of the livewell.

The GW part number for the hard rubber fishbox drains is 11-124. Description is "rubber stopper".
The GW part number for the livewell drain plug is 11-242. Description is "drain plug".
The livewell tube is 11-245. Description is "Stand Pipe 9" Livewell Overflow".

The screw-in type stand pipe that dictates the overflow level can be left unscrewed a bit so water can also drain out those two "keyways" you spoke of. This help keep the build-up of contaminants harmful to live bait flushed out of the bottom of the tank and improves the longevity of the bait .

If your well has an overflow in the side of the well like mine does, you don't need the stand pipe, just the tapered plug or the soft vinyl plug with the finger loop.

I have emailed the dealer here with the part number you posted, they have only had the distributorship a year maybe (first in Australia) so getting small parts for existing owners might not be high on their priority list unfortunately...

Thanks for that info, i dont require a stand-up pipe for the overflow, mine is set up with the overflow set into the side at the rear of the tank
So the plug im after restricts any water going out the bottom drain, the keyways are what restricts the cork or rubber ones from seating nicely for a good seal

That's the same set up I have. I use the soft vinyl plug. It has a flange at the top that seals if pushed all the way down. If you pull it up a bit you can get some flow out the bottom to help clear the contaminants.

I can't say for sure. I am the second owner. The drain fitting in the bottom of the tank appears to be white nylon. From what I know of the original owner it is probably the one Grady installed. I can take a picture tomorrow.

I usually use my stand pipe in my livewell but I have the plug also. This should be what you're looking for.

yeah i emailed Andrew Short, actually talked to them about it months ago with no joy, i actually thought the Gold Coast mob stopped GW thats why Andrew Short picked it up, might try them thanks
looks like i can get one pictured that will work well, is that what you have?

I remember now it is a while we communicated on SA . The 228 is still going great and the 250 optimax suits it very well. Yesterday I picked up my new boat from Port Kembla .
This time I bought a 2013 model 228 with hard top suits my fishing better , I will install wishbone outriggers , I have gunnel mount on the current sot top.

What type of fishing do you do? What's your call sign? Mine is SY321 and I normally go out wide well east of Browns depending where the fish are.

New boat! That’s exciting, has it got a 4 stroke, I remember you preferred the direct injection 2 strokes

Mines got a Yammy 200 HPDI, it’s been faultless with plenty of punch

Wishbone bases on the side of the cabin? Have you considered the through hard top grand slam type bases, had them on my last boat from the US, really good system

Yeah I usually fish out wide, don’t have an official call sign but my boat is named Game On, which is what I use if I get on 21, you won’t hear me on the radio much though, too many idiots
I’m planning on going out this week now that current has backed off a bit, not sure which day yet
