I recently started looking for a Grady White 208 and have already encountered two blatantly obvious scams. I imagine this is pretty common given the prevalence of Gradys? Would be extremely nice to find such a clean 208 with a new zuke 250 lol. I have been checking this site, boattrader, Craigslist (Searchtempest), hulltruth, and other random sites looking for a clean vessel with newer power and a hardtop most importantly. If anyone is thinking about selling please private message me, I would love more than anything to purchase from a know forum member. I’m glad I found this website and can’t wait to get my family into a 208! Any recommendations and help would be greatly appreciate!

I always enjoy the New Hampshire palm trees in the craigslist pics.

Where are you located? If I see something legitimate I’ll let you know.

Lol that one with the 250 Suzuki has been floating around as a scam for awhile. There is a lot of scams. Mainly the seafarer and adventurer. Dead give away is the palm trees and the price that looks cut in half.

Also, what are some things that I need to look for In these early 2000’s 208 adventures? Do they have aluminum or poly tanks? What is the construction and does it have wood? Etc etc

I have 1999 Adventure. It has a poly tank and greenwood in the transom. Not sure what year Adventures had the poly tank.
I would take a long look at the transom and transom cap - make sure all looks good. I would also pry up all the hatches etc and look inside, is it wet, clean etc.
Do a few searches on this board for Transom cap or bang cap and you will see what I am referring to.
Take a good look at the inside of the transom from the bilge access - does it look clean etc. Any visible cracks.
Look inside the cuddy and under the hatches there - take a look at the fiberglass from inside from those angles. Look in the anchor locker - from inside the cuddy.
Take your time.
Also - thru hulls etc - are they brass?
I would definitely go thru the motor, compression test etc.
Try all the electronics, horns, lights pumps etc.
I sure others will chime in as well.

For sure. I am looking at 208s now and keep seeing that "to good to be true" listing
