Love my new boat cover

Sad to put the boat away this year but it happens every year. It rains a ton here so I always cover my boat to keep it dry and clean from falling leaves. This is my 2nd Budge cover from Amazon and I've been happy with both. Sold previous cover with my old boat after 5 years of use. For around $250 that is worth it.

They are waterproof and breathable. Fit true to size for hardtop boats. I bought the 22-24' Cover size for my 22' hardtop seafarer with radar, as mine goes over my 2' pulpit. Add 2' if you want to cover your motor on a bracket. If no bracket, they should cover a single motor and kicker.

On the engine cover, I'd put something soft under the cover so you don't get any chafing or scuffing. My marina uses a tacky plastic material that adheres to the cover lightly (pulls off easily in spring) under the shrink wrap. I'm sure something like a microfiber sheet or equivalent in the right spots.

I use a 25 ft cover and a separate cover for the engine , the engine cover has felt on the inside . I used similar cavers for years on other boats . They keep the boat clean and free from bird poo .
These usually last me 3-4 years in the hot Sydney sun ( similar to Fla) but they are very cheap, about US $150. The motor cover lasts at least 10 years , about US$100.
The covers are trailable but I never trailer with covers on .

I have a cover for the motor I'll sell. Used very little, mainly indoors during storage on my F225. I have a new 4.2 F250 on order and the covers are different and I already have a new cover for it. This is the factory Yamaha cover with a nice liner.

Yes all bought in Australia. Unfortunately made in China ( only the boat cover made in China not engine) .
This is the last item made in China for me, never buy anything Chinese again.

I just ordered the Budge B-1221-X8 Gray 1200 Denier 24’ - 26’ long for my 228 Seafarer as I want the cover over the motors as well. Will let you folks know how it fits in a couple weeks, ordered it from Amazon today. Made the purchase based on PNW_Drifters review. I’m hoping the cover will buy me some time until I build a covered area to store the boat.

I agree some stuff you just can't buy unless made in China. This will change in the near future due to the attitude of the CCP ( nothing against Chinese people) I have several Chinese Australian friends.

These covers suit me just fine because they are light and very easy to put on the boat. When I take it off I roll it on the ground, when I reinstall it I put it on the front of the boat and roll it towards the back. Very easy one man job.
I can get a much heavier cover and will last longer but much heavier.
I will not be buying the same again unless it is made anywhere other than China.

Found a cover for a 225-300hp that had decent reviews and only cost $30, vented. 1 day shipping, gotta love amazon. Maybe I'll add some softstuff inside it? For my 9.9hp I put a 20hp cover on and it's not that big on it. Couldn't find a smaller one that matches. I haven't adjusted the covers yet just through them on. Keeps rain out of the little boy.

This one is lightweight. https://amzn.to/2Jz8rCI You're right a heavy cover is hard to cover a hardtop. I can do it solo and I'm not that strong. Key is labeling the front, and rear corners with a sharpie. 600D is lighter than 1200. But for sure put life jackets over the "pokey" things on your roof if you have them.

You will find they just order them in China with their brand name on them. Same factory in China probably supplies a lot of different brand names.

The cover I use has a label on the front and you can tell the up/ down position and a rope at the back that you pull to tie it .
As I said these are 600D cheap covers but they do the job and they even work out cheaper in the long run than a custom made cover but the main thing for me is it is light and very easy to put over the boat by myself.
Looks like the next one will be custom made in AU unless I can find one not made in China.

Mine doesn’t but I climb up the ladder the same way I normally do then pull the elastic around the bottom of the cover back and slip in. You have to on snap one or two straps to make it easier. One usually works. I work on my boat all winter too it’s great under the cover. Nice and dry. I wouldn’t recommend grinding fiberglass under there!

Got my boat cover yesterday, put it on , very heavy duty and it covers the motors but I would like to get about 1 foot more of the cover over the big motor. I may try to bring the front up over the pulpit give it a little pull towards the stern to see if I can get the cover to come back a bit more and then pull it back over the pulpit and railing. I’ll show the before with the plain tarp and the new cover.

Is that cover just designed for a bigger boat, without covering the motor? Looks like it is straight across the transom on a 24-26' boat.
