I am trying to change the water pump on my 1997 l 225 txr. The pumps were changed 2 seasons ago by a mechanic who I can no longer locate.

I have all the bolts off and manged to get a small space at the rear of the leg but all the shaking and blows from a rubber mallet seem useless. Space is not quite big enough for wooden shims and I am afraid to use steel.

I have read were some say the shift linkage needs to be removed and others say no.

Could anyone help?

I am afraid of forcing and damaging something.

Thanks,
VC

Are you sure you got all the bolts? If I remember correctly, my old 225 Yams had 7. 3 per side and one hidden under the trim tab.

The shift linkage is splined, the only thing you have to watch is the 1/4" tube for the speed.
