Has anyone installed a crab pot/shrimp pot Davit
on a Marlin? I'm looking for some good installation ideas. I don't want to pull spot prawns by hand!

2007 Marlin.

I'd be interested in seeing this.
I pulled 10 lobster pots for years, not the last few though. I used heavy white mats that I placed over the tunnel to protect the boat. Got to be more than it was worth. Just buy them off a commercial guy now if I want bugs.

derx2 was kind enough to answer a PM and pointed me toward an option. We have a local Sportsman Show where the vendor will be be present with schedule 80 davits. They also make a break down model that could store under the cuddy storage. I have a current davit that fits a Scotty downrigger mount but I have Cannon mounts on my boat, so I may seek an adaptor plate of some sort.

I think this is a good option. I had originally thought about doing an install into the gunnel but I think that would be too complicated. This looks clean and easy enough that I could do it without a shop. Now to think about running power to the location for a puller/electric reel, etc. I'm not sure where to pull the 40 Amp power I need.

i do a fair amount of prawning. which scotty do you have? they make a couple of pretty good options and neither of them requires a dedicated mount on your hull if you have a rod holder.

this one is a dedicated powered trap puller. you can mount it temporarily with a 30 degree flush mount rod holder using the adaptor linked.

the one i prefer is manual and fits into any angle rod holder with a different adaptor. it also floats if you attach a small fender to it with a short lanyard!

nothing tastes better than a beer after hauling up a trap from 400' by hand and cleaning 100 prawns!

Pull pots with a $125k Marlin????

Fish with it too. It's a boat - not a trailer queen.

True, maybe these traps are not like hauling barnacle ridden, smelly, mooring balls and chain. I ruined a nice boat in a month. To save the back I installed a huge tuna door right down to the water line so no davit was needed. The best mod I ever did! It's great for boarding, swimming and loading gear too. You could have the first side transom door like a Boston Whaler or Intrepid! Your cables run down the stb side so the port side should be doable!
