Marlin helm seat base

Can anybody help identify the make/model of the helm seat base on a 2007 Marlin? The seat is made by pompanette but they indicate that the base is not theirs. Over the years it has become loose and squeaky, most likely because the plastic sleeve insert is shot.

Any help is appreciated.

I cannot help with the identification, but I solved my squeak issue with a combination of olive oil and graphite. Messy for a week or so but cleans up easily. If you can't find what you're looking for this will stop the squeak. Non-petroleum is the answer.

I'll look for my emails, I had to replace the stand but had some info on who to ask , I'll look for the email address.

On mine I was told there was no plastic insert, it was an older design.

Your style of slide assembly does not take a bushing since the complete spider is made of a fiberglass injected plastic.
We have not made this style in over 10 years.

On the adjustable height black knob... there's something printed there. I can't tell from the picture, but I'm sure you can in person. What does it say? It almost looks like it's Garelick hardware, in which case the handle might say "Eez-In".

Or, contact Grady - I'm sure they can tell you.

I have the same pedestal and post on my 2005 Marlin, different base. There seems to be some play where the post meets the pedestal. Normal, or is there a bushing that should be in there?

Garelick is the manufacturer. Thanks for the assistance in that. Looks like there is an internal bushing made of delrin that is replaceable for $14. I think I am going to go with a fixed height base though instead. I have to have mine raised to see over the dash anyways and the raised position is why it's loose. Garelick sells a fixed base of 12" or 15" that looks to have same mounting base and holes. I'll let you all know how it goes.

That's the link. Look at the installation instructions and see if that's what you need. I'm not sure that is the correct part, but I ordered one along with a 12" fixed base to try them out.

I installed the new base today and it came out perfect. Here are a few photos:

The sleeve I ordered would not have fixed it. Was the wrong one, but the base was a perfect fit for the existing holes.

It raised the helm seat even higher than the fully extended old style and it is rock solid. Very pleased with it.

Looks great. Any issues getting the old one off? I assume there's nuts on the screws or a backing plate? Fixed seems the way to go as adjustable will become loose over time it seems.

It was pretty straightforward. Removed the 3 drawers under the helm seat and then the housing for the drawers. That allowed for easy access to the underside of the base. There is 1 washer and a locking nut for each of the 6 screws. A large philips screwdriver and a deep socket wrench gets the job done quick.

The seat is rock solid now. Thinking about the same for the other seat now.

Well I figured out my problem, I think. The guy I bought it from was tall and had the seat raised all the way up. There was some play in the system at full extension. As I'm fairly short, I lowered it all the way down, tightened up everything, and it's now solid with no wobbles. So that's good.

I realize this is a very old thread but I’m looking to replace my chair base on my 05 Marlin. I replaced the seat years ago but I was wondering if the Garelick posts are still the best option. I’ve always had the lowest setting on the original post so I believe 18” might be a bit too high. Thanks for any input or experience.

may be able to cut down the base assuming that the top is removable. appears to be the case from the pic. i ended up with a fixed height base and a Llebroc helm chair.

Yes I was thinking about cutting an 18” too. I’m going to call GW and Garelick today. It looks like the new Marlins are using the one I have but I can’t find it anywhere
