Marlin Prop size

I’ve been absent from the forum for some time now but have a query for those with a Marlin. I have a 1999 with 250hp OX66’s and 19m stainless Yamaha props. She cruises nicely @27kn 3800rpm but can’t get WOT and she boggs down a bit in a trailing sea. I am considering changing to 17” props and even 4 blade while I’m at it. Any help appreciated :hmm

I run 17M Saltwater Series 2 props on my 2000 Marlin. Cruise 4200 rpm at 30 mph, top out 5600 rpm at 44-45 mph depending on the day and load.

Previous post seem to quote the 15 1/4 x 17 props, some guys have tried the 4 blade powertechs too.

I just bought a 2001 Marlin and have 3 blade props on the 250 hp Yamahas, salt water series OX 66. How do it tell the measurements on the props?

The prop will have a number on the hub, if standard Yamaha saltwater series it will have 19m ( like mine ) or 17m like others. Ken at propgods has pointed me towards the 4 blade Powertech 17” pitch, 15 1/4 diameter.

Ken at propgods didn’t really comment on my choice, he didn’t provide alternatives so I’m guessing it’s what he would have chosen himself

Engines sound free’er and gruntier, she pops up on plane a lot quicker
Turns quicker at sea when sounding the bottom and more responsive at the marina
Fuel, revs and speed hardly changed at all

Happy so far just waiting for the sea to pick up as only trialled in calm conditions so far.

I would like to hear your feed back when you do your ocean test. I'm thinking you should plane out and be able to cruise at slower speed therefore saving fuel. Please shoot us an update after your sea trial........Thanks
