i bought a 28marlin with yamaha 200 2 strokes . Looking to repower with 225-250hp . my question is can i use 30" if i find a good deal? Jack plates or some other modifications ? Thanks in advance

The jack plates with the additional length will create more leverage and stress on your transom. I wouldn't do it, unless it was a deal that would enable you to afford converting to 25".

Not interchangeable. Your Marlin transom is either 25" or 30" and you need that size motor.
