Hello,
New member here looking to see if anyone fishes out of Mashpee Ma, my sister just bought a place on the water so I have a place to stay now. I have a 265 express with twin 225 Suzuki 4 strokes (2016). Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Tim

I'm in E Falmouth and also have a 265, which is great for the Sounds. Let me know what you want to catch - fluke, black sea bass, stripers, cod, tuna, etc. and I can share some "hot spots". I've been fishing these waters for over 40 yrs and have some decent experience.

I was wondering what fishing was available if I went to the northern tip of Nantucket and headed north. I know it's a haul but the boat has the fuel capacity and if I picked my day right. Other than that tuna would be top on my list. I fish them out of cape Ann here.

Thank you
Tim

I'll PM some info to you later today. It's a long discussion since there are so many spots to go and species to catch!

Hey cool, yeah we have a cottage on Popponesset bay and I keep my 192 moored there (in the entrance to the Mashpee River). Striper fishing, black sea bass, fluke/flounder, and bluefish fishing in that area is all great. And it's a great run from that area to Hyannis to the East (or Osterville or Sampson's Island close-by) or Martha's Vineyard (Washburn Island, Waqoit bay, Falmouth) to the West. Unbelievable boating/fishing in that area. And another big plus is the water temperatures are really nice (from what I understand the gulf stream runs right up into this area).

My sister is on the main beach just north of that bar/restaurant that's right on the beach. I'll be there the weekend of August4th just to visit and I was going to scope out marina's with ramps and transient slips for when I do bring the boat it seems like it will be a great place to explore.

Thank you

I'm right near the Mashpee Neck Marina which is where I generally get fuel (they have a ramp, not sure about transient slips) and last year I slipped my boat at the Little River Boatyard (Waqoit Bay, also in Mashpee). A few years ago (before I bought my house and got a mooring) I slipped my boat for a week (transient) at the New Seabury Marina (also located in Poppanesset bay)... all of these marinas have fuel and seem to be run by good people so you may want to check them out depending on which one will be most convenient to your sister's house. Not sure which beach your sister is on (maybe South Cape Beach? or which bar/restaurant)... please let me know when you know as I'm always looking for good places to tie up or beach in the area.

Hi,
She's within walking distance to the popponesset inn right on the water. That's all I know lol haven't been there yet. The popponesset marina sounds like it might be the place to start.

Poponesset Inn is great... she's in a beautiful area. Yeah the Mashpee Neck Marina (in Popponesset bay) is definitely a good place to start. PM me when you go if you'd like and I'll give you some more good areas for fishing/beaching etc. I've boated in a lot of different areas over the years from NH through FL and this whole southern cape area is really as nice as anywhere I've ever been. I can't wait for the weekend already!

Sorry, I meant New Seabury Marina (not sure if the Mashpee Neck Marina has transient slips).

I'll be there next weekend (not this coming) but I won't have my boat it will just be visiting and scoping out marina's. I'm looking forward to fishing warmer water it will be a change. All we have here in NH is striped bass, the occasional bluefish they've been scarce the past few years and flounder, also there is the Tuna which as a weekend warrior I guess I've done pretty good at. With the range of this boat I'm wondering if blue water fishing is within my reach?

Thanks again
Tim

If I had your boat I'd absolutely head to the canyons (based on weather of course) and go for tuna every chance I had. With my (single engine/small) 192 I won't be making that trip. But I have fished for footballs on the Bay side (a short trailer ride to the Sandwich ramp). Not that I hesitate to go long distances with my boat... I've taken her all over the southern cape, including the Elizabeth Islands, all around the Vineyard, and a great run last season to Chatham harbor.

Sounds great Tim. Yeah I'm sure we'll be down. I'll call you or send a text. We can at least meet up for a beer and I'll go over some of the local spots (happy to zip you over to the New Seabury marina by boat if you want to inquire about a transient slip if you'd like). I keep my boat on a mooring on the mouth of the Mashpee River (which is on Popponesset bay).

I am in Mashpee as well and are amateur fisherman at best, any tips you would like to share would be much appreciated!

My 272 is moored in Great River, Carpe Diem if you see us on the water!

Thanks

Very cool Andrew... I'm on the Great River pretty frequently (my folks have a place on Jehu Pond so I make the slow ride from Waqoit bay to their place whenever I can). I'll keep an eye out for you (my boat is the Jenna-Lynn). I'm always pointing out all the Grady's in that area to my wife... they're everywhere down there!

Saw your boat moored yesterday afternoon Andrew... I was towing one of your neighbors who has a small Whaler and was broken down in Jehu. Carpe Diem is a beauty!
