Getting a fresh start with the bottom. Super relieved that there are no blisters. Boat was dry stack stored mostly for the last 17 years. Putting several coats of Pettit white high build epoxy barrier primer coat. Then 2 coats of Pettit Vivid White bottom paint. The Pettit guys tell me it extra hard for durability in dry stack, yet still has anti fouling properties.808BAD3A-E7FE-4AC0-A3BB-D28AD1DBFEE5.jpegF0FEBF3D-708F-4511-BC06-DD2379B58650.jpeg

That's the way to do it. I soda blasted a 23' in my driveway a few years back, big job.

Yeah, I did a 33 Bertram when I was in my early 40’s. Did the blasting, priming and painting myself. I swore never again. That like to kill me. I hired it all out this time.

The entire job with me supplying the primer and bottom paint is $2700. That includes hauling, blasting, priming painting, blocking up the boat. Moving the boat to blast, prime and paint where Stands were, and launching.

That seems fair to me. That is a job and a half. I'd gladly write the check versus doing it.

C1B76507-9005-4D8A-9DFB-2F9B986C4798.jpegWell this was a nice surprise! This fuel mileage is up from 1.21mpg since I had the bottom done. The white Pettit Vivid paint looks great!

That is awesome usmm1234! Thank you for your post and updates, if mine comes out anywhere near as nice as yours, I'll be happy.

I am going to pay someone to remove the bottom paint of my Seafarer in early December. A decent part of it has already fallen off from my rollers on the trailer over the past 4 years.

They will use sanders and buff out the gelcoat. The cost will be $2200 for this, including repairing strake damage from getting boat on the trailer during very windy days.

Since I use boat in freshwater, I'll leave the original gel coat as is. Shop said it was in good shape.

You guys that removed your own are beasts!! Just sayin-Uncle LOL

Make sure they seal that hull with primer. Freshwater is the worst when it comes to getting blisters. I used the Pettit white 2 part epoxy primer. Then Pettit Vivid white bottom paint. It’s a very hard bottom paint for trailering and forklifts. Interlux interprotect 1000 and 2000 is a good primer also.
