ABOUT KRIS CARROLL, PRESIDENT, GRADY-WHITE BOATS
Kris Carroll came up quickly through the ranks at Grady-White Boats, starting as a production control clerk, in 1975, and eventually being named vice-president of engineering and manufacturing. She was named president of Grady-White Boats in 1993 and at the time the only woman to hold such a post in the boat manufacturing industry. Carroll has led Grady-White to the front rank of the industry through her steadfast belief in putting the customer first, and through her ability to build and inspire a great management team. Under her guidance, Grady-White's mission of customer satisfaction is achieved through building one-to-one customer relationships. Carrolls' focus on customer satisfaction for Grady-White is born out by the fact that historically Grady-White has been ranked at the top of customer satisfaction surveys in every third-party measure of customer satisfaction ever done in Grady's categories in the marine industry; this includes nine top rankings from the National Marine Manufacturer's Association (NMMA) and eight highest rankings from J.D. Power and Associates. In addition, Carroll and her top managers consistently demonstrate their belief in team-building within the larger Grady-White organization of employees, dealerships and vendors. Carroll and her team relentlessly encourage the achievement of the company's vision of "together, delivering the ultimate boating experience." Carroll's personal success lies in executing the details. For example, she reads Grady-White's customer surveys and responds personally as needed. She and her top managers initiated a regular schedule of Owner Forums to gain direct customer interaction. Carroll has created dozens of innovative programs to put the emphasis on quality both in manufacturing and human resource initiatives. Her attention to detail and inspirational team spirit have created one of boating's foremost success stories. Carroll holds active leadership roles in the industry and her community; she is currently serving on the board of the NMMA. She is past chairwoman of the NMMA Member Services Committee, and a former board member of her community United Way as well a Board member of the Boat Owners' Association of the Boat United States (Boat U.S.). Carroll's ability to assemble and inspire the best managers, her steadfast beliefs, and her hard work continue to set quite an example for the entire industry.
