Missing a plastic fitting on the left side of the transom? What is it and where to get one? Must be a hose on the other side?

Looks like the connection for your wash down hose....

Probably looked like this:

I think he means the hole in the bottom of pic. Hard to tell if there is a ring around that hole indicating something was there. If not, some just drilled it thru. If there is a faded ring, could be part of the motor rigging. Steering hydro line, fuel, etc. Or maybe a cockpit light. God luck, Ron

That's in the motor well. My first thought was livewell overflow, but looks like there's an identical one on the opposite side (thanks Google Images). My newest theory is that it should be connected to a drain for the cupholder next to the livewell.

Thanks Guy's. Next time I'm down I will look and see if there might be a hose behind? and follow.

Now that I look at it from GW204's point of view, it does appear to be in the motor well. Port side leads me to believe it's not a rigging grommet...could it have been a remote control for the stereo? Floating on your raft...want to change the channel...don't have to climb in the boat?

Can I make a suggestion? Ask the person that you just bought the boat from?

Trying to find an image through Google, but not having much luck, yet.

But, here's my thought/guess: I agree - portside, so nothing to do with rigging. I could be wrong, but I don't think I've ever seen motor well lights from Grady mounted on the sides - they're usually centered, correct? I wouldn't think it's an overflow since there would be scuppers at the bottom of the motorwell through the transom? If there are no screw holes, then it won't be something like a washdown since they always attach with screws/bolts. Without holes, it needs to be attached from the back - such as the way gauges and many stereo remotes are attached. Or... it could of been a project the PO started and never finished and all it is is a hole.

I sort of found a picture and could just barely make out something small on the starboard side. Maybe it is a light like you thought? Two small lights - one on either side?

You can download your manual from grady site and figure out what it is.

No matter what it is, need to do something about it. Not a place you want a hole to let water in.

The kind of thing that might drain there is the fitting to drain any water around a recessed lid like the lid for this bait well. This is the fitting shown in the right-rear of the photo - not the one on the bottom that drains the well itself.

Thanks for all the info and Photos. I believe it might be a drain of some type as seen in the Photos. I really appreciate all the help.

Nice find! A drain was mentioned above, but I was thinking "overboard", like the scuppers. You're right - those look exactly like a drain. Which would also explain the lack of screw holes since there would be a retaining nut on the back side. Those are relatively large drains so it would certainly have to be from somewhere with a large volume of water.

You guys are good - I looked through about 100 photos and couldn't find anything that showed it so well.

This is a guess, but does your cockpit deck drain into the splashwell? I'd start by checking to see where the hoses from your cockpit drains go. I'm not familiar enough with the 248 to know, but I do know there are boats that do drain the cockpit deck into the splashwell.

The cockpit drains are larger and drain through large fittings in the gunnels at the water level - two on each side. The ones in question are for something smaller - like a recessed door drain. The cup holders don't have drains, do they? (Mine don't)
