Motor ground??

Is this supposed to be ground or what?? Just noticed it while greasing the zertz on the ptt

Yes there are straps from all the moving pieces of the motor to each other

That's what I figured.. Any idea where the other bond location is at?

look up exploded view on Boats.net or SIM

Looks like one from the big anode to the tilt unit and one from the swivel bracket to the space above the lower unit

oh and a short one between swivel bracket and bracket clamp

Is this critical must be done now, or could it wait a season or so??

It is there to reduce galvanic corrosion by insuring a good current path to the sacrificial anodes.. It may be that there is sufficient ground conduction without it that there won't be excessive corrosion but on the other hand, if there isn't you won't know until the damage is done. You don't have to get the exact wire part. You can make up one with a length of stranded wire and a few crimp terminals. It may not hold up forever but it would do the trick.

ok, I think i can order some ss cable from mcmaster and make my own cables.
