New member, thanks in advance. New to me '93 Tournament 22 is not getting more than 38 mph at 4900 rpm WOT. 14.8 X 17 Solas aluminum prop, good compression, new plugs. Notched transom, no bracket. Lower unit seems buried pretty far. Just wondering where your Yamaha 200 two stroke is mounted on this boat? Mine is all the way down on the top hole.
Tried to attach a photo of it running, but got a red message that "The board attachment quota has been reached".

Raise the motor one notch at a time until the plate is at/slightly above the surface when at cruise. If it currently buried, I think you'll start to improvement in both speed and RPM, although it will never be a 'go-fast'. You'll know you went a hole too far when the prop begins to blow out on sharp turns ...

Thanks, that is just about what I had in mind, but damn, it's hot out there. Taking it out of the water in a few minutes, having cataract surgery Monday, so it may have to wait a week or two.
