Motorwell drains

Anyone ever change any of these? One of the original ones on my 208 needs to be replaced so Im thinking of doing the pair. I've seen how the brass ones are installed with the rolled lip. I would like to upgrade to the Gemlux brand.
They look really nice and reasonably priced

Ive done mine in my whaler and did them in my grady 2 seasons ago. Its not hard. I looked in the the gemlux i believe you have to drill them out larger and the hole drain is in fact a little smaller. Raybo on THT does top notch glass work from what I've read, makes stainless drains that looked great. He posted them like a year ago on there. I plan on buying them

if you use the brass ones, there is a flare tool that is sold. prob works on the others too.

I replaced the motor well drains with new brass ones and the tool made it easy, the hard part was getting the old ones out.

I keep kicking around getting something different but in the end I may just do the same
It came with the brass ones that were good for 20+ years, so another 20 would suit me just fine

Got the tools today along with the extra pieces, and your instructions on how to make your own flared end.
Haven't used my air chisel in years so it was a perfect opportunity to break it out. I tested making my own flair via your enclosed instructions. I did heat the end of the tube up a little bit and was able to make a perfect flair.
Was so happy with the results I went ahead and installed one side from the piece you had sent. Like a Boss !!! Look great.

Hopefully the tubes I ordered will be here before the week is over.

Just an update, those tools for crimping the brass drains will be avail again in a few days.

Regarding the flared ends, if you buy the scupper drains/ thruhulls, do you need to flare those also? All the pics I see seem to be flared already. Am I missing something?

If I remember correctly, the tube comes with one side flared.
You cut it to the proper length leaving enough material to make the roll with the tool.

Big thanks to Willy for making another set of flanging dies for drain tubes. I finally got mine done this weekend after sitting non them for 2 months waiting for a warm couple days.
Considering how far from square the holes were drilled on my transom, I think this came out good for novice!
