Mounting radar on hardtop "hump"

Has anyone mounted their radome on top of their hardtop "hump"?

I presently have my radome mounted in front of the "hump" on a Seaview mount with a small wedge. I would like to move it to the "hump". Looks like I will need a more significant wedge angle.

I plan to mount a remote spotlight in front of the hump where the radome currently is. Similar to my old boat, the spotlight needs to be set back 16" to prevent light bouncing off the bow. Doing this has worked VERY well for me in the past, but in order to do so, I need to move my radome

On my 330 I have the radar on the Seaview mount on the hump and a search light in the front about 12 inches behind the leading edge of the hard top. It all works good. Not sure an additional wedge is required in your case. The beam width of the new Garmin’s is pretty wide and mine works fine with no wedge.

Presently, I have a 4deg wedge to tilt the radar forward slightly at rest. But the “hump” angles aft pretty significantly, so if I mount the seaview base without a bigger wedge the dome looks like it will angle aft, especially when running. I am guessing I would need about 8-10 deg wedge to have the dome anle properly forward again.

Are you using a different spotlight this time? By chance, is it a lower profile light? If so, you can mount it further forward than your last one.

I have the 50 W Garmin Fantom radar which has a 25° vertical beam width. That means that with a 12 1/2° tilt upward for the hard top the bottom of the beam will be level with the horizon. Mine works fine as is. You can always add that wedge later.

Mine sits on the hump a Raymarine Quantum 2 . It has a small wedge and could maybe have a slightly bigger one but for me it works fine.

I have mine mounted on a 10" pedestal on top of the hump, and spotlight in front. It's on a 4 degree wedge and tilts slightly forward when at rest. Hard to see the tilt from this angle, but it is very slight.

My radar (330 Express) is where yours is, but I mounted a 20 inch single row LED lightbar on one side of the radar. It would have been nice to do it symmetrically, but functionally works just fine.

So, I wound up moving the radome back, on top of the hump so I could fit my lights. I used a 6 deg wedge plate. Still need to clean up some old holes, remove a clamshell and adjust the lights. I was careful to set the lights back far enough so light won't reflect of by bow.

Looks good. How did you snake the wiring down? That seems like the hardest thing and I gave up on installing TV antenna for that reason.

Actually, in this location it was easy. Came out right into the overhead electronics box. Then went down to pipe into the dash e electronics box. Just be careful NOT to kink the wire. Don't ask me how I know! lol

Ok,
I don't have an overhead box at all, all is in or behind the dashboard. And of course the chases are jam packed. A 335 so some goes into or through cabin and head.
I'll work it out one day but for now TV antenna is "movable" sitting on cushion on top when in use.
