I am looking at a 272 grady white Sailfish 1995 with (2)2000- 225 suzuki's (600 hours)for $29,000
The boat has gps, radar, dept finder and vhf,it has a marine head, hard top
widlass
The boat needs new combing pads and a small repair on skeg of one engine and a good clean up
let me know what you think of the boat and susuki engines if this is a good price
I will get a survey and sea trial
I want to know good and bad about the boat and the susuki's (service and parts)

thank you http://www.boatquest.com/photos/165708085739_55595_1.jpg

i'D BE MORE CONCERNED W/ THE ENGINES, 600 HRS AND INEVITABLE REPLACEMENT. IF HE REPLACED THE ORIGINAL ENGINES AFTER 5 YEARS AND HE'S UP TO 600 HRS & 8 YEARS ON THE "NEW POWER", SOUNDS LIKE DUMPING THE BOAT INSTEAD OF REPOWERING...AGAIN.

You guys who think that 8 year old engines are worthless and need of repower after 600 hours crack me up.

If the engines check out fine, you should have quite a few more years left on them. If they had 1500 hours I'd be a little conserned but at 600?

Its a one owner boat, the owner said one of the engines needed a new power head in 2000. So he replaced both new in 2000. The boat was kept in montauk so I guess it was fishing offshore
Im just concerned about Susuki service and how long for parts when needed.
I do my boating in the western sound of long island

thank you

I thought that it was better to have engines that were used every year then just sitting? I don't really think 600 hours is that many.

I'm not questioning the 600 hrs. You should get 1000 all day long. I'm questioning the timing and why he is selling the boat. How many hours did the original heads have on them? If he had to replace a powerhead after 5 years, I'm assuming he ran the boat pretty hard. If the 600 hrs is just on the new heads, you've probably got 1000+ on the rest of the engine.
