Anybody familiar with Miller Marine Boat Sales in Norfolk, they have a 208 for sale at a good price. I was wondering if someone could swing by and let me know if it is clean, and in good shape.
I live in NY.
Thanks
John

That's about five miles down Ocean View Avenue from our place.

Will drive by tomorrow to see what I can see. Big street party between here and there today, so can't get through.

Will at least look enough to see anything obvious. Know whether or not a closer look is worthwhile.

The low price sticks out like a sore thumb, and makes you wonder..

BTW, had never heard of this dealer before, and I've lived here since 1972.

Great thanks, I took a 3.5 hour drive to see one 4 weeks ago, and it wasn't worth it. Don't want to make the same mistake twice.

Didn't get out of the house today, but will go there on my way to work tomorrow morning, and post up when I get to the office.

Went to the boat lot this morning. They weren't open yet, so I stepped over the little chain and walked all around the boat. Here are my observations - based on an exterior look - did not climb on with no one there.

1) Boat appears structurally sound.

2) Bottom has never been painted.

3) VA registration and boat fishing license indicate boat used a least as recently as last year.

4) Definitely in need of some TLC to make her shine again.

5) Appears to be some "ramp rub" on the bottom, at the stern, dead center, under the drain plug. Repaired, but not done well.

6) Trailer may be OK for local run, but needs a good going over and likely some replacement parts before a road trip. e.g. the rollers are dried and badly cracked.

I have about 20 photos total just over nine MB. Give me an email address and I will send them to you.

After you look at them, you can email me (brian@thehodsons.com) on any further steps. I can certainly arrange to go visit the boat and look around inside and in the inspection access ports to get a feel for how she's been looked after.

Miller's just emailed me, they took a deposit. Damn..missed another one.
Thanks all.
John

I saw your email address this morning. Just took the pics off the camera and opened this to get get your address and send the photos.

Sorry to hear about the miss. Might have been different if I had gotten there on Sunday, but we would only have been a day earlier and I doubt you would have done a deposit long-distance.

OCNSLR-Thanks for your help, that transom area looks pretty rough. Like who did it and ran. Well I'll keep looking. Thanks Again.

Wow, wonder how that happened? Looks like it came off the trailer backing down a ramp. I'd pass on that one.

Kudos to OCN for the due diligence. Hard to beat when an GG member goes out of his way to help someone.

The rest of the exterior looked pretty good. I hadn't climbed onboard to look below, or in the bilge areas.

I didn't bother posting the photos of the trailer, but it didn't look fit to go anywhere far. Like these rollers and pivot pin photos..
