Took the Splash out of the slip at zero-dark hundred on Sunday to let her eat. This was the first time I had her out in less than ideal conditions. We had some indication that things were not all good when we saw white water in the inlet, but she rolled on through. It was hard to tell how sloppy it was in the dark, but she cruised at 27 mph with only an occasional hard hit while all the charter guys were talking about how miserable their ride was. My crew was sound asleep in bean bags. Fished hard all day and wound up with 2 wahoos, 2 kings, and some assorted trash fish while trolling the Gulf Stream 65 miles out of Wrightsville Beach. Cruised back in on some nicer seas at 31 mph. Only bummer was seeing some guy out there in a quad-powered 456 Canyon. No matter what boat you got, someone out there has a bigger, newer one! No matter though, it was a great day and the first chance to really feel the difference in stepping up to the Express!
