My user name used to be "FutureOwner" but as a new Grady owner, I thought it appropriate to change it. I was fortunate enough to find an incredible deal on a 2006 Seafarer 228 in Louisiana. I took off in my Ford F150 Supercrew, checked out the boat, and pulled it 800 miles to it's new S Fla family.

I sincerely want to thank many members for the advice (answering my stupid questions) and time. Several of you have PM'd me with thoughts that have been very helpful. You have provided information about so many boating related issues including truck and towing info.

I will post a pic or two and will be bothering all of you with all kinds of questions. Right now, we are just very excited (wife and two little ones) about the new member of the family. She'a a beautiful boat and we think she'll be very happy here.

If these tropical systems would just go away, maybe I'll have a chance to get this boat wet in S Fla soon. On a serious note, I made a few new friends in Louisiana and I pray that the Hurricane weakens or turns away all together. They are wonderful people that I'll keep in my prayers...

Thank you all...

Vinny

Congratulations. I really like the layout of the 228. Nice boat. And it was nice of you to rescue a Grady from the oncoming Gustov. Now just keep her safe from Hana ...

Thanks. My first Sea Trial of this boat was in a canal leading to Lake Pontchartrain. I put her in the water today in S Fla. It was crowded with Holiday revelers but the boat performed well. The trim tab switches are wired backwards (the right switch moves the port tab and vice versa) but that was the only strange thing. I think I'll be very pleased with this boat...

I believe you will find the wiring for the tabs is correct. When you push the right rocker switch forward (top), the left trim tab moves down and causes the boat to tilt to the right and nose in a little. This way you don't have to stop and think about what is really happening. If you want nose down to the right you push the right tab. If you want nose down to the left, you push the left tab. Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks for that. I feel stupid but I could swear a boat I had in the early nineties had the opposite set up. I'm truly a NewB but having fun with it.

No need to feel that way...I had the same problem with the Mercury outboard motor trim switch on the throttle. I was use to the Yamaha switch and never did get the hang of it. Had to think about it every time I went to trim in or out. Sold the mercury and went back to and have stayed with Yamaha.
