new to great grady

hey I am new to this site and new to grady white boats, after owning at least 12- 13 makos from 20 ft to 25 I got po"d yesterday after looking at a 22 ft c/c mako and said the hell with mako and this morning I bought a grady 24 offshore . So im wondering what to expect from her ? it got a yamaha 225 ox66 on it . is she a a boat I can take a few miles offshore like the name says so any advise or tips you guys can throw my way would be great I dont know what to expect ok here we go!! thanks in advance

Congo Rats! Mako is not a bad brand at all. I owned Tritons, Rangers, Whalers, heck, all over the board. This is my first Grady also. No insight here. Never owned a twin outboard. Biggest I ever drove was an Inboard...Navy boat.. heh. New to me also, a LOT taller than anything I ever took out, but... sea legs are sea legs the world over. The experts will chime in (Saying that a lot today)...but wanted to say hello and welcome

The 24 can easily handle moderate seas. I once had a 22 Seafarer and would travel 20 miles out with no problem. Good luck, I went from a 19 foot Mako to a GW 22, 23 and now a 28 footer and never looked back. I think you will be happy with your decision.

yes. that is like the old saying shoot first ask questions last thought process. Gradys are great boats, no one on here would state otherwise.

Welcome Aboard! Congrats . It's a very capable machine to go out in the deep blue. I own a 228 and that boat has taken me to the Bahamas a few times. The Dry Tortugas and places in-between. We regularly fish out of Port Canaveral down to Stuart and out of Port Canaveral we tend to chase fish anywhere from 20 to 40 miles out , sometimes 50. It should serve you well.

Welcome! I have a 1988 offshore, hard top, enclosed transom. I fish in the gulf 70 miles out and in the keys All year round. I have a Yamaha 250 four stroke and I love it. A little rough ride when I get caught in a 25 to 30 knot wind but the boat blasts right through it. The rougher it gets, just slow down a little and keep on going. Lol. I get 48 mph wot with an empty tank getting 2.0mpg wot. At cruise, 32mph I get 2.6mpg. Getting 2.3 at 39 mph cruise. I would recommend a Yamaha fuel management gage if you don’t have one. Great way to keep tabs on your engines performance and Save fuel to maximize your range.
