After 32 years of running a Mako 230 ,It was time to upgrade. I brought this home Wednesday and I am excited to make it mine.
It had a mesh storage bag holding life jackets under the hardtop. I would love to find a new one,but google has not come up with anything.
I am not sure what its called, measurements are roughly 34"x54". Does anyone know what its called and where to get them.
Thank you for the help. I know I will have many more questions as I look to tighten her up.
Excited about the next 32 years with my sailfish!

Looks like it has 200 HPDI's. I've read those engines have a great reputation.

Can't help on the mesh bag. Congrats on the cool boat!

Congrats on the Sailfish!!

Your mesh bag can be had from A&J Canvas in Vanceboro NC. They made/make them for Grady. They did mine for my 228 as my zipper was blown on my old one and it was just nasty from being exposed to the saltwater environment. Call and speak with Lee and tell her what you need. You might need to send your old one to her, but they can make you a new one. I had the small, straight zipper opening on my old one too like yours. My new one has the smiley zipper which is a much larger opening to get jackets in and out.
A&J also does the enclosure for Grady as well, so if you need any enclosure work done, there's that.

Sweet boat. I just purchased the same boat, same year this summer. Upgraded all the electronics to Furuno. Getting ready to repower. Removing the 2 strokes and installing Yamaha 4.2 250s. If you have any questions or anything I can help you with, ask away.

Congrats on the boat, i have a 2002 282. I've had her for several years now and have dealt with about every gremlin that exists on these boats. If you have any specific questions check on here, that's what i did, and there is a ton of information. If not, put it out there, or send me a PM. If you are having an issue then someone else has likely dealt with it at this point. Latches, hatches, misc hardware, scupper hoses, pumps, AP install, splashwell drains, and so forth are all fun topics. AJ is going to be making me a new canvas enclosure in the next few weeks. I make sure to open and close the mesh bag on mine every so often, thus far is it holding up well, but the birds love it in the spring. You'll need to mess around in there every so often to keep critters out. My next item to investigate is the little rubber bumper on the cabin door that has rotted and fallen apart, always something!!

Yes 200 hpdi. New lower ends with good compression accros the board. Hoping they give me a few good years.
I will clean them up and put new decals on them. Want to add a ac/heater as well. I plan on over nighting at the marina between Charleston and Key West. Waiting for my new Chevy 2500 hd to come in . I know my Tundra sighed deeply when I unhooked her!

I'd spend some time and check all mounting hardware on the deck and cockput. Rebed if needed to eliminate water penetration. Check the transom area as well. You want to ensure the bang plate and other areas where the liner and hull meet are sealed as well. Check the brass tubes in the motor well. Might be good to have these replaced at next layup as it is getting to that time. Also check the scupper lines that drain water from the cockpit out the thru hulls. The hoses dry rot over time. Prob ok now, but you'll need to watch and be ready to replace if they show signs of damage.

Agreed. I am doing my brass drains right now, not a terrible job if you have a little bit of know how and are willing to take your time. I can say that about most jobs on these boats. My scupper hoses were turning to dust, they were replaced last year. Did the livewell and washdown hoses this year. If original, they'll need attention soon, as mine started leaking this year. One other thing you'll probably want to inspect is the escape hatch up front. If it hasn't been rebedded it will need to be, and they don't make that weather stripping anymore from Bomar, so i used a second thin piece to make it seal tight and it worked like a charm.

All Good advise ,thank you. I will dig in and inspect all of this . I do also have some slight swelling in the top center of the transom.
The hull surveyor states that the transom is sound. I do plan on sealing the top of the transom up and addressing any bad laminate found.

Congratulations on the new boat! I have the same year and model. A bunch of great guys here on greatgrady and a wealth of knowledge. A few pointers to look at right away, as mentioned the rear deck drains/hoses, mine aren't shot "yet" but I'm planning on getting them redone next year regardless. Rear bang plate, take it off and get it glassed over, I'm going to have that done this year before dropping her in the water. Rear scuppers, have them looked at, I think I'm going to have them removed and just glass the inside of holes over this year as well. The head (bathroom) drain pump/float has a habit of getting gunked up and sticking to the on position. Get to it and clean the entire thing out or it'll run your battery dead. You can barely get access to it from the floor pie plate in the cabin (much better if you remove the floor board).
And finally if you happen to get a little drip of water on the towel holder in the head area, let me know if you can figure out where it's coming from because I can't for the life of me figure out how it ends up there after 3 years of chasing it down. Good luck with the new boat and don't be afraid to ask any questions.

I have a 175hpdi. How many rpms do you cruise them ?
