New to me 85' 24' Offshore (Project)

All finished with the bottom. Really happy with how it came out. Put the hatch in and its plenty strong.

I was thinking about redoing all the supports where the hatches rest because they're a little weak in some spots. Not sure if its worth the additional work though.

Decided I'm going to put the fuel tank in the rear which apparently is how they come, and put my batteries as far forward as possible. This way I don't have to worry about rain water getting into the bilge through the hatch since it will be under the bimini all the time (or maybe the hardtop!).

My hopes to have this thing primed and painted before I wrap it have gone out the window. Work is going to start getting busy with boats starting to come out, and my weekends are going to be shot.

Any work at this point is still progress though I guess.

Haven't given up yet! Picking up a 1999 225 Johnson Ocean Runner tomorrow locally! One piston is shot and it apparently needs a powerhead. Comes with most of the rigging I believe. It'll be getting a full paint job, new decals, new powerhead and mostly everything that can be replaced/rebuilt on the powerhead.

The whole top/console/sides are ready for primer. Still have the whole deck, cabin, transom, and hull to do.

boats covered in snow sooooo...I welded up a stand for the motor I bought the other night. Gonna start tearing it down tomorrow.

Split the motor into three pieces today( mainly to make it easier for me to hump everything out of my truck when I move it to my sisters garage). To my surprise I didn't break one bolt that held the powerhead on. Only bolt that snapped was one head bolt when I was looking to see which piston was fried. Turns out 2 and 6 are shot. Wonder what caused it?

Built some hatch covers for the rear storage compartments today. Still have to route the bottoms so they fit over each compartment correctly.

Came up with a better idea for "handles" to open the hatches rather than just putting a hole in them. I used a biscuit cutting tool and removed some material right underneath where I routed the edges just enough to get your fingers in.

Gonna start working on a bow pulpit, cuddy anchor locker hatch and bulkhead, teak and holly floor for the cuddy and also a teak and holly step that covers the toilet in the cuddy. Trying to get some things done since the boat is currently a sheet of ice.

Built a bow pulpit after work tonight pretty happy with how it came out. Made it out of two pieces of 3/4" starboard. Just needs a pair of cleats, Lewmar windlass, and anchor roller.

Haha thanks guys, I will feel better once the boat is painted. I'm just hoping that the boat structurally will last me some time. I hate seeing frozen water in the bilge but if I wrapped it i wouldnt be able to work on it when the weather is decent.

Also rough cut the anchor locker bulk head. Probably get that done tomorrow.

Cutout and fit the anchor locker bulkhead. Not too happy how it fits, I should have checked the old one again before I used it as a template. There's a decent sized gap on the two sides where it tapers up. Hoping that the headliner I end up using will be thick enough to fill the gap.

Cutout a hole and made a hatch for the anchor locker. Really happy with how it came out just waiting on the mounting hardware to come in. Went with removable hinges so I didn't have to come up with a way to keep it open and went with an anti rattle latch.

I made the hatch 3/8" bigger than the cutout then removed 3/8" of material out of my piece of 3/4" to make a lip and have a neater look when closed.

It's alittle crooked in the last picture as there is some play in it but it'll be straight when mounted. Thinking of adding trim around the edges of the bulkhead out of 3/8" x 1 1/4" starboard just to jazz it up alittle and maybe fill more of the gaps that are there on the tapered sides.
