I've got a 94 Tournament 192 with a dead voltmeter. When I repowered the boat I was told the guage needed replacing but I thought it would be a simple enough job to tackle myself. Hopefully its just a matter of putting in a new gauge and connecting up the existing wiring. Any tips or pitfalls I should watch out for?

Pull the old meter and temporarrily connect it to the battery terminals, paying attention to polarity. This is to make sure the gauge is really bad and it isn't someting else.

Voltmeters are simple instruments...two wires (maybe 3 if its illuminated.) One is a ground and one goes to a switched + lead. I would check all the connections first - with a test light if necessary. May just be a loose connection.
