Hi All
We are really enjoying our Freedom 255 and will post more info and pictures soon. Wanted to make an overall comment on the 300 HP V6, it is a great engine and initial impressions are very favorable. This engine gets the boat out of the water in a flash, very, very impressive. I had 6 adults on board and 4/5 tank of gas and Bukster was up and running in seconds. This is a heavy boat with hardtop so I was very pleased. We have not run it hard yet as it only has 14 hours on it so will post some performance numbers later in the summer. One issue I am running into is Yamaha calls for 89 octane and we are having trouble finding a Marina that carries anything other than 87!!
I have asked my dealer to advise if long term 87 octane use will be a problem, but may have little choice.

i spoke to my dealer about this. he said the 89 is required to achieve the performance specified for the engine (i have f350's) but that it will run on lower octane. as in cars, he said the new engines automatically adjust - but performance will slightly suffer. let's here from the tech guys. ron

Glad to hear it.

The combo you have could never leave someone with a single, lacking for power and longing for twins.
That's a first on the larger GWs, post flagship 300 HP HPDI days and nothwithstanding the F350/F300 which is a massively heavy motor not to be likened to V6s.

Ed,
My F250 is also spec'd for 89 octane fuel. Since my boat lives on it's trailer I don't have a problem finding it @ Kroger or other land based gas stations. With the Kroger card that $0.15 discount per gallon really makes the 89 octane more affordable.
I saw in the new issue of Soundings where they are calling my 225 a Freedom now instead of a Tournament. I don't care what they call it as long as the boat doesn't change.

I thought he was talking about the new CC.

I'm bad.

Must be the heat going on up here.
