NJ fishing reports

Going Friday morning for a few hours looking for stripers Sea Girt to Seaside. Its gonna happen soon....
If you want keeper sea bass you have to get out to 100ft+. Shark River Reef/Stolt/Resor.

Fished from GE inlet to Brigantine inlet along the 3 mile line today. Lots of bait but no fish. Had fog most all day. Had a few boats blasting along through the fog that we tracked on radar and had to maneuver to avoid. Either they had radar and weren’t paying attention or they didn’t have radar, In which case they shouldn’t be running at full speed in severely reduced visibility.

No fish here either...got out at 7am basically idling the whole way out because the fog was so thick.

We went in around 830-9am as we had a similar incident. I seemed to track every boat on my 20 year old radar but had one guy flying over a wave and forced us to speed up and reel in our lines before he ran them over. I am curious why that happened....if my boat showed up, he didn’t have radar or wasn’t paying attention.

There were some decent swells so not sure if I was hopping on and off.

Got out on a 32 Topaz. Ran slow thru fog to the Resor. The Jamaica and Paramount were already there. We did a few drifts over and along the wreck. 1 Keeper seabass, lots of throwbacks, porgies and dogfish. We moved on to the Triple wrecks. It was dead. Moved on to the Hudson Elbow. Fog cleared somewhat. Got nothing trolling. Just 2 blue sharks on our sword baits drifting all night. Nobody was catching. I found us some golden tilefish (finally!!!!) in 450 ft and we got a dozen in windy conditions. We got a surprise 50 pound YFT on the bottom on a tilefish rig!

Anyone hearing anything about the inshore bluefin yet? Looking to get one last shot before putting the boat away.

we just heard of someone claiming to get away from the striper fisherman to boat a nice bluefin. there is pics online somewhere, I believe it was a 100 pounder

skunkboat you asking about the sea bass?
no, Iceman's stripers. he's out of Barnegat inlet....wondering if he went north to Seaside Park...

Your seabass trip was nice! Too far south for me. I can run 20-40miles to 120-200 ft wrecks for them here but I'm just going to finish out the season with stripers and maybe chase inshore bluefins

That’s what I’m looking to do before I pull the boat. Starting in December fishing the outer banks for giants.

got skunked this afternoon from Bayhead to Long Branch:(
Same from barnegate inlet to ortley beach. Didn’t hear much else going on the radio.
On the ride home found huge bunker pod with nothing but spiny dogfish all over them.

skunk, did you hear that guy on 68 with the vhf keyed all morning?
