4.5 to 5 ft. It can be crazy fast on a full or new moon. Docking is not for beginners.
Yeah, it’s been running exceptionally high around here lately. It popped the lines on a few improperly tied up boats in our boat yard and flooded the parking lot and a few streets around here.

Try running thru the Point Pleasant Canal at a tide change on a weekend. It’s like piloting your boat thru the spin cycle in a washing machine.

We spent the morning chasing balls of bunkers. Snagging and live lining them trying to catch Stripers. All the way up to Asbury Park along the beach. The whole fleet and only an occasional catch.
I've been bombarded with pix of bass at first light just outside the inlet

Got out the inlet and turned north at the first hint of light. Snooped around the beach at Sea Girt/Spring Lake. nothing happening. All of the charter and party boats that were there headed north as the fleet started exiting the inlet. So we headed north to not get run over. Found really small bass under birds at Monmouth beach. Did not want to go that far but ended up in Sandy Hook channel and we trolled some shorts, two keepers, and three overs to 43". We used Mojos. Lots of boats from Manaquan & Shark River Inlets were already there or showed up.

We called it a day early. I heard there have been blowups anywhere and some steady action south at Seaside Heights

43" striper. Thats NYC behind my head

Just outside Manasquan Inlet this morning on a live bunker. First bite...last fish... Nothing but endless dogfish after that. We saw a few bass caught throughout the day both on bunker and trolling. Broke off a Mojo rig late in the day on a big one

Nice afternoon trip today. Got straight outside Manasquan Inlet about 2pm. Found small stripers (5 - 10 pounds) on surface along the 3 mile line. Poppers were the only thing working. Chased them around until sunset. I think thats it for me for the season. Pulling out on Friday after Thanksgiving.

Launched today
didn’t get out fishing until 2 PM after everyone else limited out in the morning and went home...
the wind cranked up to 30. Impossible to anchor. Held over some spots and managed 3 keeper seabass in 20 throwbacks.
Boat ran well.

We fished after crossing two tide changes in the canal. Fished in the bay, the river, the inlet & out to the Manasquan buoy no keeper fluke. A beautiful windy day but no fish. Taking a break today.
Would have been a great day for sea bass today flat this morning I had to work

We had stopped at SG reef first and got nothing but shorts so we picked up and beat the head boats out to SR reef. We caught limit on first drop of the anchor on a wreck. Head boats were fishing on tops of rockpiles.
