We tried a last canyon run for tuna at first light on Friday. Nice WSW wind inshore(nice striper day). We got 23 miles out and had to slow down. Decided to bailout because I didn't have the energy for another 65 miles of that. Forecast was for it to already have calmed down. Several big sporties passing us by on their way out. We trolled in hoping to scare up a stray bluefin and caught nothing. Beautiful day inshore. Back at dock at noon.
Took my nephew to the dock Friday night to catch dock stripers (he got two) and a charter was back from the East Wall with limits of big yellowfin and a 250 pound bigeye. And yes, it glassed out in the Hudson overnight and all boats had limits.
Last nail in the coffin.
I'm pulling the boat for the season Thursday. Got some projects and want to get some done before the freeze.

Out today just off the hook, best day I ever had striper fishing. Monster fish and plenty of them, I've been fishing a long time and nothing even came close

Bought new to me 03 330 Express last October. My son gets bragging rights for putting the first fish on the boat. Looking forward to some memorable offshore trips this summer. Out of Atlantic City

Six limits of 10 black seabass for first trip of season. 3to5 swell against NW @15-20. Surprisingly fishable. Anchored on SeaGirt reef Here’s a picture of two limits

The Marlin with Etecs in the background is new to the marina. Is that anyone here?

Were those open water shots? There's little groundswell and not a 3 footer in sight. Nice conditions! This is the first shot of your dock that I've seen without a tide roaring thru there. Hope you have a fun season!
5 miles off Sea Girt NJ.
pictures are deceiving because they are not moving. The middle picture was in the morning there were swells true 3 to 4 @ 8 seconds A bigger one would get your attention every so often. The wind waves hide them in the pictures. Afternoon was much nicer.

Fantastic day today. Beautiful weather. Out inlet at 7 am. Stopped on a dry dock wreck at Sea Girt reef. Drifted it and held position with motors. 4 man limit of 10 each of keeper seabass by 9 am! Never moved off that end of the wreck. Crazy good fishing. Two Gradys showed up as we were trying for our last 6 fish. Looked like they were trying to mug us:rolleyes:. They moved on. We decided 9 am was too early to quit so we ran away from seabass and ran 14 miles out to the Arundo .There was a 330 Express anchored there. We looked like we were trying to mug them:cool: . They weren't swinging anything. We drifted the wreck and had 3 rods bent and just piled on the red hake (ling)

I also caught a Haddock. We NEVER catch haddock in NJ.

Got out friday at first light. Trolled the lumps near Little Italy looking for Bluefin. Read lots of bait, No takers. We anchored on a nearby wreck that was covered in sand eels. Caught a mess of very nice sized black seabass and some red hake (Ling)on clam. Seabass and ling were puking up sand eels.
We saw two bluefin in the 50Lb range go airborne near us. The sonar really looked like they were shooting thru the sand eels. Got nothing on popper or jigs. Nobody trolling nearby seemed to be having any luck.
We finished the day wih a half bushel of ling on the Arundo. There was a grady marlin anchored there. He said he was just leaving. We drifted the wreck for non-stop ling.

The tuna report is nothing at Princess or Resor. Some of the run & gun guys went east to Bacardi/TTower area and Hudson. They saw lots of life and some fish but only one Bluefin boated.
Guys that went south to Lindy/Spencer got YFT
Bluefin is going pop wide open soon.

Oh, also, short dock stripers are on fire in Manaquan River at night outgoing tide
Hi Skunk, thank you for all the reports and Intel! The weekend weather looks great so I'll be running my brother's 28' Regulator out of the Highlands this Saturday and Sunday. Planning to Seabass in that wreck zone (not sure what it's called) about 5nm North of LI / Humpty where those big mounts are, we crushed the SB in there last year with a pretty decent grade of fish. Hopefully we'll limit early enough to do some trolling/jigging for the BFT near Little Italy.

BTW, where abouts are the "Farms"? I'm not interested in tangling with a giant but they usually mix with the smaller ones.
