NW Oregon fishing reports

A good day out in the big pond. One of the smoothest days I can recall in a long time, and seemed to get flatter as the day went on. Got our limits of 20 bass and 8 ling cod, 5 coho (limit 8), 12 crab (limit 48).

My buddy also caught the elusive Pacific Rock fish! Feared by many of ocean anglers, rarely seen out in the wild. Known to swallow fisherman's gear without a second thought and carry it with them forever. He decided to keep this one as a trophy fish, where it will live out the rest of its life in the garden!

Also had a few whales come around today, which is always a cool sight to see.

Slow go out to our spot yesterday, lots of fog. But burned off and was a beautiful day. 20 sea bass, 8 lings, and 3 coho.

Launched out of Garibaldi on Tuesday and headed due West. Stopped around the 124.45 and dropped our gear in. Got a triple after about 15 minutes, trolled back through and nothing. Moved around a lot, but was scratch fishing all day.

Ended up with 14 on the day. All on the troll, couldn't get anything going with the jigs. Rapala and swimbaits got most of the fish, a few on clones.

Hopefully back at it Saturday.
