Off season peculiarities

I have noticed that during the off season ( ans especially in the recent cold snap) I snack more often but more importantly, I look at a lot more Boats For Sale listings. Should I try to cut down the snacks?

I think that perusing boats for sale is pretty normal behavior for an American male that is afflicted with aqua holism. If that behavior is leading to excessive snacking, I would not be worried. You may however need to install a given amount of ballast on the port side of your current boat to keep the starboard through-hull above water.

After buying a boat two weeks ago (Seafarer 228) after a 6-month search, my wife asked what I was going to do with all my free time in the evenings, now that I wasn't looking at boats-for-sale websites all evening. The answer apparently is: keep looking at boats-for-sale websites.

She watches house-hunters, I look at boats. At least until spring gets here and we can go outside.

Keep snacking. It is winter and you may need the extra fuel. If this is your only forum, continue to look at boats. If you wander to other sites, try home improvement, managing your money, or going into the bowels of your cellar and contact women or whatever you are into....

Heyspike, there are a bunch of Grady 226/228s for-sale-by-owner on a site called powerboatlistings. FB marketplace had a few as well, but tended towards '80s model years. Never hurts to ask on hull truth either, but that's a bigger marketplace for center consoles and big budget stuff. I think from other threads, you were probably looking at some of the same seafarers I was a few weeks back.

If you google a bit, there's a nice looking 226 with an F250 around Charlestown SC. I tried to make an offer a month ago but they had no luck contacting the owner. Might be worth looking up. I ended up getting one much closer to home (MD) which saved me the logistics of seeing/purchasing a SC boat. Also, if you haven't checked them out, Kencraft 220wa and 215wa is pretty comparable to the other two you're looking for. A bit more of a spartan layout than the seafarer, but if you're more into fishing than family cruising it's worth a look.

I feel like I'm looking at the same ones over and over again. I inquired about a Mako on Powerboat listings, the owner said that boat was 5 boats ago-Haha. Not very up to date, I'm finding a lot of that. I saw a Mako 215 WA pop up on boat trader in GA and called the dealer. They never called back so I called this morning--SOLD. Spellmans in NY has a few Seafarer's--one is just over budget and the 2001 has 900 hours on the 2 stroke. The search continues, I'll check out the one in SC.
