Current list of things I would like to do;
change hoses
replace bilge pumps
replace fuel pick-up (I don't trust guage)
Upgrade fuel filter/seperator
strip old bottom paint
maybe, maybe add a T-top

I squeeze in those sort of things whenever I can throughout the year - we really don't have an off-season. Fishing year-round...

But the boat's "to do" list never seems to end. Just add more stuff to the bottom of the list...

Rigging the boat for offshore fishing:
1) Adding a new lighting system with HID spreader lights(less then half the current) to be powered off a separate battery. I need to light my boat all night long without killing my start batteries and do not want to add a portable generator.
2) Re-rigging my outriggers with all new gear
3) Adding 3 flat line release clips
4) Adding two flush mount swivel rod holders in my transom
5) Rigging offshore lures
6) Buying a full spread of offshore setups 4 Avet pro exw30's and 4 Avet SDS50's all with Hollowcore with custom rods from Kevin Bogan in Pt Pleasant, NJ.
7) Along with all the normal maintenance....filters, paint and such


Between Christmas gifts and this my pockets will be empty for a while... :?

What's on your list?

I would get a fuel flow guage to better meter the amount of fuel in your tank. The original guages are a waste (as I am sure you know..).

My list is really short this year.
1. Make a rod balancer for striper and sturgeon fishing in the SF Bay and Delta.

2. Install an auto pilot.

I found out that it is much more difficult to fish a 27 ft boat solo than a 20 footer. An auto pilot would have really helped out alot last year. This year it is a must!

Kenny, it when you take the canvas "off" for the summer, or maybe when you take allot of time "off" in summer. Oh wit I am out of the water now for my "off" season with a 1 month old. I figured the boat would not get used much so I took this winter and made it my "off" season. Ahh there's always striper in March..jh

Depending on the weather and in between fishing trips I have the dreaded trailer maintenance on the list.

I was thinking of
1: Underwater lights
2: maybe flirr system(i hope santa is good this year)
3: adding an extra battery
4: add some more rod holders
5: prepare some off shore rigs/gear
6: get a new 8 man raft
7: adding some more electronics/gadgets
8: maybe making my stove top undermount with cover

That's it for now.

Just finished re-rigging the outriggers

Jim at Arc-Tech is making me some Tridents, high flyers and a center pole to get me in shape for BFT next year off OC.

When its available-
Flush mount 2 Furuno 3D displays
-Radar install
-Through Hull Aimar ducer
-Auto Pilot

In the Cheseapeake Bay we use large planer boards to get the spread out. The easy deployment was to toss them over and hand line them out 50 to 100 feet depending on boat traffic. The line is secured high on the pipeing. I would like to smartly place some pullies and a "teaser" reel to make the job a bit more easy. Still thinking on the how part.....

Hermco bracket
more rod hoolders on piping
LGC-2000 for another GPS
gas tanks
fuel flow meters
remove stripe and polish the hull
install 3rd battery for house loads
clean up wiring


and try not to shovel too much snow.....

With the way my season ended..........blew the engine (sucked a valve) on Labor Day w/e.........I have barely looked at the boat.

Just planning on "de-winterizing" in the spring and hope all goes well!!

Good call Pete! I had no autopilot on my 1994 Sailfish and when we bought our 2001 Marlin last year, the Simrad A/P was installed before I took delivery! For solo fishing, you will LOVE it!

PS: I fished with my uncle up in Vallejo on his 16 foot boat in the very early 70s! I learned to water-ski behind that boat in 1966 up at Lake Berryessa! Not bad for a Miami boy!

My "off season" jobs will be to replace my helm speakers with some new, Bose models, recaulk my genset deck panel, totally detail/clean the entire boat, add new MAIN and AUX decals to my fuel filler ports, replace a rusty anchor shackle, continue to look for new clamp-on rod holders to go onto my hardtop frame pipes, insulate the small livewell behind my seat ( I use it as a nice drink box!) and finally, to buy a nice heavy-duty spinner for bottom fishing!!

3. Install new stained doors.
4. Start work on the Mako.

Hey gradyfish22 - how will that work with the fold-down transom? I adjusted + installed an extra holder on each side, so now I have one straight back, one about 30 degrees out and one 90 degrees out on each side. Thought about the straight up swivel as well but not sure how to work it with that transom.

Oh, and start planning for Megabytes 3
