Who here has a 270 with a dash like this one? I assume not the older models.

Curious if you know the dashboard size. Just curious.. and have someone asking me a question, so got me even more curious :p

I do not think I can squeeze another display up there with that Garmin (I am moving the vhf up top)...and I do not think mounting it up top is good for the neck OR mounting it above the guages is good for the display so... probably limited on options.

I know this is crazy... lol.. but maybe downsizing to two 9" displays vs a 10 and 7 or whatever, might fit better.

I know. *gasp!*.. lol.. just spitballing while waiting on some contractors to show up and do some work here at the house.

bah.. just realized what I was looking at.

The 270, as most Gradys, have a glovebox.

This 270 had an oversized dash placed over it, and that is not specific to all of you.

Looks like it can be expanded just a tad bit, without really making it larger that the space, but not much.

So, as with all of this.. I pretty much have to wait till the damn shippers get here with the freaking boat.

Next time I decide to buy a freaking boat, I will factor in going to get it myself... heh. This is a pain in the neck :p

Just FWIW if you are thinking of adding a 7" Garmin machine next to the unit you already have like I think you mentioned before, the cutout is a good bit smaller than the cover footprint would indicate. You can actually have the unit much closer to the edge and still leave enough margin for mounting. You can research and find a template to show dimensions for mounting. I have a 7" Garmin that I could measure for you to give you an idea of the size.

Thanks Duk. I am thinking, once the it gets here, that faceplate will actually take another inch or so, since I will need to replace it anyway more than likely. I think I may be able to extend it about 1/2 inch each side and squeeze a little more room in. Since I will go to that much trouble, I can adapt a bracket behind the center to strengthen the plate, to allow me to take advantage of the entire space. I may then just make a custom cover to cover both at the same time.

Again, just spit-ballin here without the boat.... heh.. but a fun way to pass the time ;)

You should be able to move the larger unit so that the cover is flush with the edge. I installed a 9" machine on my GW 223 and it was a tight fit but actually came out just fine.Panel 2.jpg

cool beans. Yea, has a 10" there now. I have a lead on a super nice Raymarine e127 but that will be super tight, so better to wait till I get it and see what I can do.

BUT.. if they can fit side by side... will make a hell of a nice setup... lol
