Every June we fish in a small Tournament sponsored and hosted by George Poveromo who is a fishing writer as well of host of his own salt water fishing show on ESPN2 every January-March. This year we stayed on South Bimini at a really nice Marina named Bimini Sands..... My wife, Jennifer and I stayed aboard our Marlin all four nights......
Here we are docked up next to our good friends on their 377 Intrepid....... I have fished quite a bit on this nice boat...... Note that the aft Bimini is "retracted" and tied to the hardtop..... Since we bought the HEY MON! a little over three years ago we have installed a 6kw, open array Furuno Navnet, a Simrad A/P as well as the 18' Lee's outriggers. In four summers, we have made 13 trips to the Bahamas.......
It was incredibly great weather for running around and fishing as you can see by this shot of Great Isaac Lighthouse which is about 25 miles north of Bimini. It was built in the 1850s and the buildings are where the lighthouse keeper and his family lived, stored goods, a workshop, an outhouse, etc. Yes, Jenn's wearing a Mako t-shirt and we got those in our "Captain's Bag" since they are a major sponsor of the Tournament! She's holding the frame of our retractable, aft Bimini.....
Isaac in 15 feet of water.....
Here's my "crew" during a post-lunch nap!
SMOOOOOTH!
Making the 60 nm run from Bimini back to Hillsboro Inlet just north of Lauderdale... Nice!
We only caught one cuda and a baby dolphin during the four days of trolling but we caught this guy on the way home!
