outriggers - how far down should they lay?

I just had my marina install riggers on my Grady 330 Express. They did them to the Lee spec of 55 degrees max angle at deployment. i dont think lay out far enough. Was offshore Tuesday and baits seemed to tight. Is there an isue with me moving the top brace so they lay out further? Too far and they will be a bear to get back in, but any other concerns?

Ideally, they should go down as far as possible without dipping into the water on a rough day.

I've always been told to set them up so that when the riggers are out, they extend back even with the transom. I'm guessing on that boat you have wishbone mounts. Depending on the angle which they were mounted, they might not sweep back that far when they're down. Do you have any pics of them down?
