Within the last week, my OX66 stopped cranking over without intervention. Last week, it made a whirring noise but didn’t crank over. Today, I just heard it click.

In both cases, I took the cowel off and sprayed WD40 and tapped the solenoid. After a bit, it turned on.

I use my boat every 4-7 days. Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a good lubricant I should be using? Will there be a point that this “fix” will stop working?

One other thing...I noticed that a little water was coming out of the mid section when the engine was not all the way down (see pic, have video as well). Once I trimmed it all the way down, the water stopped coming out. Is this normal??

Bad starter motor, bad starter solenoid or corroded connection. Since tapping the solenoid worked, I would say it is bad. Easy to check all else. When motor won't crank. jump the larger gauge solenoid terminals with either a piece of heavy cable or a screwdriver if that fits. If the motor cranks, solenoid is bad. Alternately, if someone holds the key in the crank position and the motor doesn't crank, tap the solenoid (you need an extra hand to do this). If the motor cranks, solenoid is bad.

Going with it being a bad starter solenoid. Dropped it off at the marina for them to rebuild it (once they confirm that it’s the issue) and to address the poppet valve (assuming they determine that to be the cause of the alarm). Hope to get it back next weekend.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I have come across all of the issues present with my boat and can go on enjoying it the rest of the season.
