Pulled the lower unit, the shifter is lined up fine. But still I am not pushing water up to the top of the engine. I looked to see if the water tube was lined up OK with the water pump housing, and it looked fine. But still no water.

So the question is: are the impeller arms going in the right direction? If you look down on the L U from above, and turn the driveshaft clockwise, the arms are flexed backwards. They lag the center of the impeller. Suggestions?

Are there new rubber grommets for the water tube to go into?

Check that the shaft/impeller key is still in place.

hot, the blade direction wont matter, the blades are really flexible and as soon as you start the motor they will rotate clockwise. are you running the motor on a flusher or in the water? if on a flusher make sure that the cups are sealing around the water intakes completely. i would launch the boat and check the water flow then. keep in mind that the 225 2 stroke has a water cooled rectifier that has the tell tale water running thru it. so that may be a concern too. i hope that helps..... andy

I run her on a "flusher" or as the Yanks sometimes call it, "mouse-ears"

Do you have to push the water tube down into the housing, or will the tube go into the housing far enough when you push the lower unit back in? Thanks, Andy

Look at the arrow on the bottom of the pump housing in this photo:
