I want to remove my post pedestal base. It is a 9 3/8 Late that sits about 3/8th high. I want to take it out and replace it was some as close to flush as possible. Any ideas?

It was a rod holder mount that I could remove and add table attachment. I am also doing some fiberglass work to the panel as it is the gas tank cover panel. Whoever put it in did not do a good job. There is a soft spot. I am 2nd owner. Any thoughts?

Add a Fighting Chair
Hey guys, Possible Winter project id like to tackle is to add a fighting chair to my 89 Offshore w/grady bracket. The boat has a huge open area in the stern. Being that I mostly troll and still fish I was wondering if anyone here ever tackle this project. I was thinking of using a flush mount...

If there is room and you can address the core, you could counter sink the mount so the cap is level with the deck. May have to reglass and gelcoat the area but if you are doing the backside, why not do it at the same time.
A gas tank hatch is one of the easiest things to re-core. But I don't know of any pedestal mounts that are thinner than 3/8" - 3/8" is considered "flush mount". The only way around that is to do as Fish said and countersink it as you rebuild the hatch - also relatively easy. Just double check that you have the extra 3/8" to spare.
