With mine, it left the foam tape on the side of the cockpit and on the trim also when it came off. I thought the 3M tape would not hold it unless all the old foam tape was removed and also mine had shrunk causing it to peel off in the first place. It would have been real tough to get it off the back of the trim. I ordered new trim from Grady and it comes with the foam attached. It takes a lot of elbow grease and acetone (Sally Beauty Supply) to get the old foam tape off. The new trim goes on pretty easy. Costs more but an easier solution and more long term.
