The Perko light on my 265's hardtop has been flickering on and off. I replaced the bulb to no avail. The socket the bulb plugs into seems loose in the pole and I'm guessing that has something to do with it.

Anyone have this issue and successfuly fix it before I start trying things?

Thanks, Bill

if the socket seems loose, it probably is. i would check the power and ground contacts at the box first - easy part. then look at the ratchet connector to see if the wire is chafed. last would be to pull the socket and fix the wires or replace the whole thing (depending on age). ron

It's not the butt connectors or switch. The light will go on and off if I tap the pole with my finger. The bulb is tight in the socket and there's no corrosion there.

Bill,

I had non-stop problems with my Perko masthead light. Finally I just replaced it with an LED. It took a little work to get the new light's tube to mesh with the OEM tube (sleeve and rivets) but I have not had any more problems in 2+ years. BTW, I also replaced my forward navigation lights with LEDs for reliability reasons.
