The have a 3 or 4 inch pin at the top. Put your 2 corneer grommets over the pins, and use some light line with a small loop over the pin, and tied as far aft on the transom an possible, to the lifting eyes usually. That holds the poles in the rod holders, and stretches the canvas back. Similar to amf282's photo above, but not as complicated.
