I was speaking to an underwriter at CNA, which happens to be the insurance carrier for BoatUS. She told me that even though I had no marine insurance claim in over 20 years, that insurance rates could go up as high as 37 per cent this year. For any of you who have renewed your insurance since Sandi, what rate increase did you experience? And for the guys "in the biz", will rates go up nationally, or primarily in areas effected by Sandi? And will everyone share equally in the misery even if you had no claim??

My guess is we are all going to share in the pain. I've already received correspondence from Boat US ahead of my March renewal telling me as much....time to start shopping.

Yeah because folks like Brian and I who live like oh sooo.close to the coast need.to pay more because somehow our risks have gone way up.since Sandy. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Travellers has been very competitive. If BoatUS gets too grabby (interpreted as "hungry") I know where I'm going to look first.
