I just put my boat in the water from winter storage and noticed while putting it in the slip that the trim guage on the starboard side motor is reading 6 bars, while the port engine is reading one bar. I have played with the tilt switches on the control which works both motors and with the individual controls but the bars will not go down on the starboard motor, just the port side. The motors visually appear to be sitting at the same height, but the reading is off.

The bars will read accordingly when the motors are trimmed all the way up on both gauges, but will not go below the six bars when trimmed down. I have only owned the boat for one season and cannot remember if that is how it read originally. Does that reading seem correct? Any ideas and solutions for same would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No Bail, thanks for your help with this! I am assuming since you said you stopped using your gauges because of the same issue that it is just a reading/output issue, not an actual functionality issue to be worried about in the future in regards to the power tilt. Thanks again!

I think they do make a replacement sender that has more metal. One of mine broke off, and one just stuck all the time. I still have a spare part but I sold my boat.

Most likely the tilt sender is stuck or the cam is loose/broken. Raise the engine and engage the safety stops. Look under the horizontal pivot of the motor at the transom and you should see a cam on the shaft of the pivot as well as the lever of the trim sender. Try playing with the sender lever and the trim gauge display should also change.
If the lever is sticky, some WD 40 might help.
Also check the cam, it is mounted with a set screw on the pivot shaft. It may be loose or mis adjusted.
The trim sender is a bit of a pain to change and is fairly expensive ( About $150)

Good luck

Thanks Seasick,

I hope to get out there tomorrow and will mess around with same. I am assuming it is stuck, hopefully! I just got it out if storage and it worked fine all last year. Maybe some dried up growth on it. Thanks.

The day after I posted this message, I went out and noticed that my indicator was not working accurately. I guess I will have to try my own suggestions:)
