Hi all,
I'm about to negotiate on a 1985 Seafarer 226. It hasn't been registered since 2013. The trailer needs work, transom needs replacement, no fuel tank and I'll need to power it. The owner is well off. The for sale sign says $2,000 or best offer. I'm capable of doing the work myself. What do you thing the highest I should pay for it. I'm thinking $5-800. Please let me know what you think. Thx in advance!

I'm thinking 700.00 to 1200.00 depending on how much work the trailer needs. With no trailer than the 500.00 to 800.00 figure is fair. Just my opinion.

Thx guys! we're thinking the same way. Like I said in my first post, the current owner has a very successful business. This boat is on his business property. I think there's plenty of wiggle room to negotiate. It's a good blank canvas for me to restore. Only reason I even want to do it is I have a 5yr old grandson that needs to be around his Papa and learn the ways of the sea. He's surrounded by sisters and his Dad is a workaholic that doesn't have time for him. No way for a little guy to grow up. I'll keep you posted. And again, the for the comeback! Tight lines.

I purchased my 1984 with blown motor for $2800. I ended up redoing the transom, new fuel tank, new wiring, new motor, etc. It came with a trailer (which I sold to get one more suited). It had new isinglass and canvas and a hard top with rod holders. I think you're in the money with your price. I won't tell you want I ended up putting into it to get it to where I wanted it....LOL! PM me if you have questions. I have a youtube channel with my restoration steps and process, including the transom redo. Good luck! Share pictures of the progress!
