I am new to boating and have a 2003 Yamaha 225 hp motor on my 2000 Grady White Tournament 223. What grade fuel should I use? Thanks.

Non ethanol gas is the best. Most stations in fla carry rec 90. (90 octane with no ethanol)
Some stations have 87 and 89 non ethanol gas also.

I also add a fuel additive like ring-free during the season every tank and a stabilizer during the off season.
The original post didn't say if the motor was 2 stroke or 4 stroke. If 4 stroke, I don't think that Ring-Free makes much of a difference.

I'm a fan of Marine Techron. I've used the regular Techron over the years and I've had good results. Quite a bit cheaper than RingFree and I'm thinking very similar. I found it for $50+ per gallon, now $73,

Last time I wanted to buy Ring Free is was almost 60 bucks for a quart at my marine store. I bought the Mercury product instead.

JIP40 and I split a case of Ring Free...if you buy from DOMO-ONLINE it's $40/bottle.

I have no intention of using additive for 210 gallons of fuel......I used 87 octane ethanol in my 2002 F225 for 15 years and 2000 hours..
Never had 1 issue and sometimes I have layups of 6 months or longer...something is generally fishy in this space...
As noted, 2 strokes is a different story.

IMHO ring free is overrated and overpriced. It is still a great product and works well. Sea foam works wonderfully for four stroke motors. Not a big fan for 2 strokes. I just don’t trust any additives to not break down the lubricating properties of the 2 stroke oil.
